Why QC Photos Matter
QC photos are the single most important step in the SugarGoo buying process. They're your only opportunity to assess the actual item before it ships internationally. Unlike buying direct from a retailer, you can't return international rep packages easily — what you approve is what you'll receive.
Many buyers, especially beginners, approve photos too hastily. Spending 5-10 minutes critically reviewing QC photos is worth it every single time.
What to Check for Shoes
Sneakers are the most complex to QC. Work through this checklist:
Toe box: Is the shape correct for the silhouette? Not too bulbous or too pointed. Swoosh/logo placement: Check both sides. Asymmetry is a red flag. Stitching: Look for clean, even stitching along panels. Loose threads or skipped stitches are defects. Sole unit: Color accuracy, texture, and any visible glue overflow. Laces: Color, aglet quality, and length. Tongue and collar: Correct padding and shape. Tag: Visible in QC photos? Check font, country of origin text, and RN number if possible.
Always compare against reference photos from Reddit QC threads for the same batch.
What to Check for Clothing
Hoodies, tees, and jackets have simpler QC requirements but common failure points:
Print quality: Is the graphic sharp, correctly centered, and the right color? Screen-printed graphics should have no cracking or peeling. Embroidery: Clean and even, not loose or puckered. Tag: Brand tag, washing instructions tag, and any hanger loops. Font and spacing should match retail. Stitching: Check hem, shoulder seams, and any paneling. Color: Does the actual color match what you expected? Some sellers photograph in different lighting.
How to Request a Reshoot
If photos are blurry, missing angles, or you just want a better look at a specific area, message SugarGoo customer service to request a reshoot. Effective reshoot requests are specific:
Good: "Please retake the photo of the left shoe sole — the current photo is out of focus. Also can you photograph the tongue label close up?"
Bad: "Can you take better photos?"
SugarGoo staff will retake at no extra charge. Typical reshoot turnaround is 1-2 business days.
When to Reject and Request Replacement
Rejection is appropriate when:
- •Obvious manufacturing defect (uneven sole attachment, severe stitching issue)
- •Wrong colorway or size was picked
- •Significant print misalignment or cracking
- •Visible glue stains
- •Missing hardware or accessories that should be included
Mild imperfections that wouldn't be visible while worn (small interior stitching, minor sole texture variation) generally don't warrant rejection. Use judgment based on how much the defect will impact your actual use and enjoyment of the item.
